The mankind’s existence throughout history has taken place in land areas that sustained agriculture, habitat, and several other natural resources. A number of life forms involving terrestrial plants and terrestrial animals have developed from previously existing species which thrived in water bodies.
Different Types of Land
Tundra
Tundra is a vast and open space of land which is the coldest of the biomes. The University of California’s Museum of Palaeontology has pointed out that tundras are identified with snow-laden landscapes, severely low temperatures, diminutive precipitation, meagre nutrients and brief mounting seasons. This makes tundra’s a very problematic place for livelihood because of its severe weather circumstances and deprived food supplies. Arctic and alpine are the two kinds of tundra’s on earth.
Alpine tundra refers to tundra located above the treeline, while it can have scarce vegetation of further kinds. Arctic tundra’s also have vegetation and can sometimes receive rainfall.
Desert
Deserts are of two types: hot/dry and cold. Hot/dry deserts have scant flora, and only faunae which can adjust to living in enormously hot temperatures with negligible water.
Mostly animals in the desert dig a hole to escape the incredible heat, which can shoot up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit in the day light to keep them warm.
Grasslands
Grasslands are a category of land that has a number of diverse climates, faunae and flora, dependent on the location of their origin. Grasslands are found on every continent excluding Antarctica and are frequently located towards the central part of the continents.
Grasslands comprise of trees, several types of grasses, flowers and herbs. There are numerous names for grasslands like prairies, pampas, savannas etc. There are two forms of grasslands: tall grass and short grass. Tall grasslands are typically humid and wet, whereas short grasslands are dry and hot.
Forests
According to the University of California’s Museum of Palaeontology, forests inhabit roughly one-third of Earth’s land area, include over two-thirds of the leaf area of land plants, and comprise about 70 percent of the carbon existing in living beings.
There are three types of forest, categorised by their longitude: tropical, temperate and boreal.
Agricultural Land
Indian people are largely working in Agricultural activities thus agricultural land is almost 54.7% of the total Land Mass. The agricultural lands are located on the peripheries of the Metro Cites. Generally, the agricultural land parts are teamed with the Industrial areas outside the city.
